read 'em in the brascoe

Bio

We are a small indie press located in the Adelaide Hills. We are young (under 30), excited (and excitable!) folk who are passionate about providing great service. We are most passionate about literature and developing writers, and about furthering editing and independent publishing in Australia.

We subscribe to an eco-ethos: we have a 'no-pulp' policy, we use green printing processes and recycled paper, and we try to make sure that everything is used twice. We also try to use public transport, wherever possible, in heading out to see our clients. We believe that being on friendly terms with the environment isn't just about a reaction to climate change, but that it's an essential way of living and working.

The business is named 'brascoe' because a) in today's busy society it is increasingly becoming the case that everyone (from mums to CEOs) only get five minutes to themselves in the brascoe. What better place than that to catch up on some reading! And b) a country's language is integral to its culture; hence the use of a slang word (yes, 'brascoe' is old Aussie slang for 'toilet'!) as our name.

In other areas we are passionate about live music and youth culture, and so both of us produce work (articles/reviews/galleries) for Australia's largest online rock mag FasterLouder. We are proud to be able to help local bands get some solid media attention, and to help them promote their gigs. If you want to know more about this side of us, let us know and we'll send you links to our work.

If you want to know anything else about us, feel free to flick us an email.
