Baldness be my Friend:
Living with Alopecia
We are calling for submissions for our first autobiographical anthology. The work is to be about being a woman and coping with losing your hair, and it is a first for this type of book. The work has been named 'baldess be my friend' in honour of the WWII memoir 'Boldness Be My Friend': the key themes of which were endurance, courage under enormous odds, and personal strength. Each of these elements is applicable to this work.
Submissions are open, deadline for submissions reopened indefinitely.
Please contact us for more information.
Submission requirements
Writers must be:
- female
- living with non-cancer-related hair loss, or (if not currently suffering from HL) have suffered hair loss during the teenage or young adult (20s) years. If your hair loss is due to cancer treatment, you are ineligible because your hair loss is not 'alopecia'.
- Email all manuscripts to info[at]brascoebooks.com.au. Posted manuscripts will not be considered.
What we are after
We want manuscripts that are approximately 5,000 to 8,000 words in length, that talk about your experience with hair loss, how you cope, what you did, how it affected your life, relationships, and opportunities. This book will be for those who might be suffering from alopecia now, and to publicise the fact that many women out there suffer deeply from this 'cosmetic' problem.
