AAP Submission Guidelines
All submissions to Adelaide Academic Press must meet the following criteria to be considered by the publishing team. If your submission does not meet these guidelines, your submission will be either deleted or shredded.
Where to send your submission
By email to aap-submissions[at]brascoebooks.com.au
Or, send a hard copy to PO Box 185, Upper Sturt SA 5156
Your submission must include
- A covering letter
- A formal proposal for the title
- A relevant sample of the work
- Table of contents
- Peer reviews
- Your scholarly CV (including relevant published titles or articles)
Writing your proposal
The proposal must run to a maximum of ten A4 pages, single-spaced. Anything over three pages will be discarded and not read.
Before you commence your proposal, make sure you have all of the relevant information to hand.
Your proposal will need to include:
- a precis of the proposed work and indication of its page extent
- a summary of the target audience
- a demonstration of the uniqueness of the work
- evidence-based demonstration of market need and market comparison
- any relevant supporting information that will enable the house to assess the title’s viability
Peer reviews
All submissions must be accompanied by two formal peer reviews, with peers’ contact details included. Such peers must be external to your academic school or department.
Highly controversial works
We encourage submission of unusual or controversial academic works. These must be accompanied by a minimum of two additional formal peer reviews, and all peers’ contact information. Again, peers must be external to your academic school or department.
Information for independent scholars
Adelaide Academic Press particularly encourages submissions by independent scholars. The house defines an independent scholar as one whose academic pursuits are carried on external to, and without alliance with, a formal tertiary or other educational institution. Independent scholars may be members of the Independent Scholars Association of Australia, or other similar body.
Peer review requirements still hold fast for independent scholars, as peer reviews demonstrate a scholar’s familiarity and engagement with the field.
Please note
Acceptance of your submission is entirely at the publisher’s discretion. Those submissions not accepted will be deleted (if sent by email), or shredded (if sent by post), unless a stamped, self-addressed envelope has been included.
